Almond Porridge

Almond porridge, sometimes called nut porridge, is a warming, satisfying breakfast made the low-carb way. A blend of oat bran and ground almonds brings healthy fats and fibre to keep you going through the morning. It's at its best made fresh and eaten warm, topped with a handful of berries. Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between almond porridge and nut porridge?

Not much, really. Nut porridge is the general term, while almond porridge is made specifically with ground almonds. You can just as easily use other ground nuts like hazelnuts or walnuts.

Is almond porridge low in carbs?

Yes. Thanks to the mix of oat bran and ground almonds, one portion has around 21 g of carbohydrates, which fits nicely into a low-carb way of eating. Nutrition figures are estimates.

Which fruits go well with almond porridge?

Berries are a natural match: raspberries, strawberries and blueberries all work beautifully. Rhubarb and apple are lovely too.

Can I make almond porridge with plant-based milk?

The recipe uses dairy milk, but you can try plant-based options like oat or almond milk. Just keep in mind that the texture and nutritional values may shift slightly.
